Guide • Avatar and brand
How to choose the right AI avatar for your brand
The avatar is the person your audience associates with your company in every video. The right choice depends less on personal taste and more on your audience, the type of message and how often that presenter will appear. A good avatar is recognisable even without a logo next to it.
Gallery or custom avatar
The two routes to a presenter, compared on what matters
| Gallery avatar | Custom avatar | |
|---|---|---|
| Time to first video | Minutes — pick and generate | Days — needs a reference recording and approvals |
| Brand recognition | Good, if you consistently use the same avatar | Highest: the presenter is yours |
| Best for | Tutorials, support, quick tests, campaigns in new markets | Leadership communication, internal training, sales messages |
| What must be documented | Nothing extra: the avatar is an original character | Written consent, purpose and duration of use |
Four questions before you choose
- Who sees the video most often: a new customer who does not know you, or an employee coming back into the course platform?
- Does the message call for authority (procedure, compliance, finance) or warmth (product, community, retail)?
- How many languages will this avatar speak? A presenter appearing in five markets needs a neutral, not a regional, presence.
- Who approves it? If you use a colleague's face, their approval and consent are part of the project, not a formality.
What you match beyond the face
- Wardrobe and background: an office background says something different from a flat, colourful campaign background.
- Voice and pace: choose the voice by the tone of the message, not just by language. An overly upbeat voice cancels out a serious message.
- The brand kit: logo, colours, font, subtitle position and the opening and closing frames, saved once and reused.
- Framing: a close shot for personal messages, a wider shot with room for graphics when explaining a product.
Common avatar-choice mistakes
- Changing the presenter for every video. Audiences remember a consistent face, not variety.
- Picking a very formal avatar for a playful field, or the reverse — the mismatch is felt immediately.
- Settling for the first avatar you open in the gallery, without comparing two or three on the same script.
- Committing to a brand avatar before testing the message with a gallery one — investing in identity on an unvalidated script.
How 4avatars helps
In 4avatars you can generate the same script with several gallery avatars and different voices, so you compare the result fairly before deciding. Once you are sure of the direction, you create the custom avatar on your brand identity, and the brand kit (logo, colours, fonts, backgrounds) applies automatically to every following video.
